Rathimalar Govindarajoo

Dancer | Choreographer | Teacher | Performing Arts Education Specialist

Rathimalar Govindarajoo is a pioneer in the Performing Arts in Malaysia and abroad, and has 8 years experience in the field of education.

 

Rathi was one of Shobana Jeyasingh Dance (SJDC)’s pioneer dancers employed full-time from 2001-2006 in London UK. Upon returning to Malaysia, she worked full-time with Fairview International School, HELP International School and MAHSA International School as a Dance Education Specialist, and PHSE Subject Teacher (2 years at each school). She is a disciple of Dato Ramli Ibrahim and has been with Sutra Foundation Sutra Dance Theatre for over 30 years now.

 

She is currently teaching Performing Arts in Stella Maris International School (2020 to present). Rathi is a judge at Kakiseni for its BOH Cameronian Awards in Dance category, a member of MyDance Alliance Malaysia, and was a Dance Education Specialist under CENDANA’s Artis Di Sekolah program in 2019. Rathi is also freelance as a teacher|choreographer|dancer|artistic collaborator locally and internationally.

 

Rathi is also the recipient of innumerable awards including the 13th Debaprasad Prativi Award Orissa India, BOH Cameronian Award – Best Feature Performer in Dance Category, Women of WATSON AWARD 2013 for extraordinary woman in the Arts & Play, Great Women of Our Time Awards Malaysian Women’s Weekly Magazine 2011, Women of Style & Substance 2011 Marie Claire Malaysia.
